Our answer is we think you should try both. They are a little bit different. Each test is a little bit different, and so one test might appeal to a student's particular skill set or knowledge base a little bit better than the other. And we recommend the best way to understand the difference between the two is to be exposed to both tests. Taking each test at least once is certainly something we counsel a lot of our students to do.We have a lot of students ask us how many times should they take the test. Well, we recommend that after taking both tests at least once that you take a second one a second time. So either the ACT you take for a second time or the SAT you take for a second time. Which one to do that with really is up to the student. Which one did you like better? Like is a relative term for taking standardized tests, but which one did you feel like you have a better shot at increasing your score on? So take that one at least one more time, and that usually sets students up to do pretty well with merit awards or admissions requirements.
