Actually, studies show that the majority of students come to college and change their major, not once but three times and typically within the first three semesters. The good news is that at most colleges you can find an academic success advisor or some advisor to help you figure out what major is the best fit for you. Here at the University of Indianapolis, we have an academic success advisor who assists students with a career exploration assessment. That assessment helps students learn what are their interests, what are their skills, and then also what subject areas they are most interested in. We connect students to faculty members for informational interviews as well as professionals who are graduates of the majors of their interests to help them figure out what might be a good career path for them. All of that works together to help them find out what's the best fit for them.
