Basically you have three different types of colleges and universities. The first one is a public school that is funded through the state. So in the state of Indiana, this includes Indiana and Purdue University, and also satellite schools such as IU-Purdue Fort Wayne, IU South Bend, Purdue Calumet, and others around the state. You also have privately-funded universities, such as smaller schools. Oftentimes they are religiously affiliated, but those are funded through tuition and also donations from around the community. And then you have for-profit universities, or proprietary schools. Oftentimes these schools are non-residential, commuter type schools, and a lot of times you’ll see they are also online schools.
