When you apply for admission, you are applying for a merit-based scholarship from the university. Didn’t do so well on your ACT or SAT test? You may want to re-take the test to get a better score to up the potential for a better merit-based scholarship. Apply for outside scholarships through your high school, community organizations, local civic groups or whatever. Also several free scholarships search services that are available for you to use. Just remember, don’t pay an application fee. Reputable scholarships won’t require one. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.gov.
